Cedar Rapids Man Arrested, Charged with Attempted Murder

(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- An eastern Iowa man is in custody facing multiple charges, including attempted murder.

On Friday, Cedar Rapids Police arrested 43 year-old Kenny Lee Rogers in connection to a shooting last month. On March 25th, an adult male showed up at an area hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim survived, and the the investigation into the shooting identified Rogers as the suspected shooter. When officers arrested Rogers, police say he had methamphetamine in his possession and lied to officers about his identity.

Rogers faces the following charges:

  • Going Armed with Intent
  • Willful Injury causing Serious Injury
  • Use of Dangerous Weapon in the Commission of a Crime
  • Persons Ineligible to Carry Weapons
  • Felon in Possession of a Firearm
  • Violation of No Contact Order

Rogers is being held in the Linn County jail. The shooting is still under investigation.
