(Des Moines, IA) -- A bill banning city and county governments from issuing their own identification cards is heading to the governor's desk to be signed into law.
The Iowa House passed the bill last month, and the Senate passed it on Tuesday.
Johnson, Marshall, and Story Counties currently offer their own IDs.
Johnson County Supervisor Rod Sullivan says the ID cards mostly help those in the community that have a harder time getting state issued ID cards.
He says the cards can't be used to buy tobacco or alcohol, or get a driver's license.
