(Iowa) -- Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has issued a disaster proclamation for five Iowa counties in the aftermath of severe weather last week.
The proclamation is for Carroll, Crawford, Grundy, Harrison, and Washington Counties. The governor's office says the proclamation is in response to severe weather in those counties on April 13th. The proclamation activates the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program and the Disaster Case Advocacy Program for those counties. The disaster proclamation will be in effect for 30 days unless terminated early or extended.
The Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program offers up to $7,000 in grants for households with incomes up to 200% of the federal poverty level. Those grants are available for a variety of expenses including home or car repair, property damage, or temporary housing expenses. Through the Disaster Case Advocacy Program, case workers will work with individuals or families to create a disaster recovery plan and closes 180 days from the date the disaster proclamation is made.
