Iowa Celebrates Arbor Day By Planting 250 Trees

Friday is Arbor Day. In honor of that, Iowa has a launched a huge ambition. The planting of 250 trees in one day. FFA, 4H, and Frazier Nursery of Vinton are taking part in the initiative.

Plantings include maple, elm, locust, honey locust, and oak trees. The plantings celebrate America's 250th birthday.

There will also be a special kick-off event at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. A bur oak, a species of the state tree will be planted on the fairgrounds. It's the only oak species that is native to all 99 counties. Learn more HERE.
