(Des Moines, IA) -- Communities across the Des Moines metro are launching a campaign to clear up confusion about rules for e-bites, e-scooters, and e-motorcycles.

The Ride Safe 'n Smart campaign is aimed at clearing up confusion on the rules about where e-bikes and e-scooters can operate across the Des Moines metro. The campaign will provide resources including website content, social media posts, and printed materials.

Heather Behrens, Marketing and Communications Director of the City of Waukee, says, "Each city's kind of taken their own angle that fits their community, so you can see information on social media, us making some fun videos, clarifying what can go on the trail, what your speed limits are, things like that. The cities that are participating in the Ride Safe 'n Smart Campaign include:

Several cities in the metro have changed or are considering changing their city ordinances to clarify what types of vehicles are legal and where. Last week, Ankeny banned electric mopeds and mini-bikes on public trails and sidewalks.
