(SARPY COUNTY, NE) - The Sarpy County Sheriff's Office says around 5:00 a.m. Monday, Deputies went to the Bear Creek Apartments at 144th and Harrison Streets following reports of a disturbance that escalated to a stabbing.

Deputies say the initial investigation shows a resident of the complex observed a disturbance between a male and a female in the parking lot.

The resident called 911 and verbally intervened, advising the individuals to cease the disturbance and informing them law enforcement had been contacted.

Investigators say following this interaction, the male involved in the parking lot disturbance entered the building and forced his way into the 911-caller’s apartment, where a fight between the two males began.

A juvenile and another female were also present inside the apartment.

The Sheriff's Office says during the struggle, the 911-caller armed himself with a knife and stabbed the intruder one time while attempting to remove him from the apartment.

The 911-caller remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

The injured male who entered the apartment was taken by Omaha Fire & Rescue to a hospital where he remains in serious but stable condition.

There is no ongoing danger to the public.
