(Des Moines, IA) -- Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART) is releasing new maps and schedules for its new bus network set to launch later this year.
DART's new bus network will be launching on June 14th, and in the meantime, a number of resources to help riders to begin planning on the best way to plan their trips on the new network are available. Luis Montoya, Chief Operating and Planning Officer with DART, says the new network is a significant change to DART's existing service:
"It is a complete re-design of our bus network, focusing on providing faster service to some of the busiest destinations around the metro and also improving access to jobs and essential services."
The new routes are a result of input from riders and other community members on their top priorities for public transportation. When the new network launches on June 14th, all current DART routes will be replaced with 11 routes, most of which will run all day long, seven days a week. There will be more space in between bus stops to provide faster service, and service times at DART Central Station will be re-timed for additional trips.
More information on DART's new routes, including interactive maps, is available on the Des Moines Area Regional Area Transit Authority website.
