Drug Take Back Day Collects Over 300 Pounds of Medication Across DSM Metro

(Des Moines, IA) -- Last Saturday’s Drug Take Back Day collected more than 300 pounds of unwanted and expired medications across the metro area.

Ankeny led collections with 162 pounds, followed by West Des Moines with 112 pounds, and Urbandale with 50 pounds. Items turned in included pills, capsules, and patches.

Since the program began in 2010, more than 100 tons of unwanted or unused medications have been collected across Iowa.
