Governor Reynolds Issues Disaster Proclamation for Five Counties

House Hearing Held To Consider "Rightsizing Federal Government"

(Iowa) -- Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has issued a disaster proclamation for five Iowa counties hit by severe storms on May 15th.

The proclamation includes Cherokee, Clay, Kossuth, Montgomery, and Ringgold counties and allows allows state resources, including the Disaster Case Advocacy Program and the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program, to be used for recovery efforts.

The Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program offers up to $7,000 in grants for households with incomes up to 200% of the federal level, with grants made available for car or property repair as well as expenses for food or temporary housing. The Disaster Case Advocacy Program provides disaster case advocates who deal with clients dealing with disaster-related hardships. Those advocates work with clients to create a recovery plan and offer guidance and referrals along the way. There are no income eligibility requirements for the program. The proclamation will remain in effect for 30 days unless terminated early or extended.
