Memorial Day Events Honoring Military Veterans Held Across Iowa

(Iowa) -- Ceremonies and parades honoring military veterans are being held across Iowa today.

Memorial Day a the Gold Star Museum, Camp Dodge, Johnston, IA. Free breakfast, blood drive and ceremonies from 5 a.m.-noon featuring live broadcasts from Simon Conway.

Iowa Memorial Day Ceremonies at Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Adel, IA at 8 a.m. and at the Iowa Veterans Home, Marshalltown, IA, at 10:30 a.m.

Highland Memory Gardens in Des Moines, IA hosts a service with bagpipes, honor guard, and Patriot Guard Riders, featuring a 2-mile "Avenue of Flags". at 9:00 a.m.

The Marine Corps League's Larry Nehring Detachment will hold its annual Memorial Day event on the south side of the State Capitol, Des Moines, IA at 10 a.m.

Tribute Ceremony at Cedar Memorial Park, Cedar Rapids, IA. Patriotic music and keynote address at 11:00 am. The Avenue of Flags features over 1,500 American flags on display.

The Metro Veterans Council is hosting a program inside the Veterans Memorial Building, Cedar Rapids, IA. at 10:30 a.m.

Memorial Day Parade will start at 10:15 a.m. in Ames, IA, followed by a presentation at the Ames Municipal Cemetery at 11 a.m.

Annual Memorial Day ceremony held at the Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL at 10:45 a.m.
