A fatal Omaha officer-involved shooting is being investigated.
No police officers were hurt in the Tuesday incident near 19th and Bancroft Streets, but a barricaded gunman was shot and killed by police as negotiations went downhill as officers awaited a warrant.
Police Chief Todd Schmaderer said as the OPD SWAT Team tried to go into the residence through an opening they made, the suspect fired on them.
Officers returned fire, killing the suspect, a male in his 50's. The name of the deceased has not been released.
Police were originally called to the scene Tuesday morning for a disturbance, and the man was highly agitated over an eviction.
Two people were able to get out the house safely.
