DMPD: Man Recently Released from Jail Arrested Again Monday

(Des Moines, IA) -- Des Moines Police say a man recently released from jail is back in custody after being arrested again yesterday.

Police say 34 year-old Christopher Long was released from jail on April 13th, though several warrants for his arrest had been issued since his release. Officers spotted long yesterday afternoon near the Harriet Street boat ramp in Des Moines, and as they approached him, he fled on foot. Police used a taser to subdue Long and take him into custody. Police say he was found in possession of methamphetamine and a firearm when he was arrested.

He now faces the following charges:

  • Felon in Possession of a Firearm (Class D felony)
  • Peron Ineligible to Carry Dangerous Weapons (Class D felony)
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance - 3rd or Subsequent Offense (Class D felony)
  • Interference with Official Acts With a Firearm (Class D felony)
  • Criminal Mischief (Simple Misdemeanor)

Long had previously been taken into custody on February 13th and faced eight charges, including four felonies.
