Patrol's First Summer Traffic Enforcement Effort Numbers Released

The Nebraska State Patrol says Troopers removed 65 impaired drivers from the roads during the annual "Make It Click" campaign surrounding Memorial Day weekend, the start of the American summer vacation and travel season.

The effort ran from May 15th through June 1st.

In addition, troopers also issued citations for speeding (1,616), including 47 citations for speeding at over 100 miles per hour, along with no seat belt (80), improper child restraint (23), open alcohol container (53), minor in possession (23), driving under suspension (85), and failure to move over (11).

Troopers also performed 317 motorist assists during the campaign.

The "Make It Click" campaign is a nationwide effort involving numerous law enforcement agencies.

Nebraska's portion of this effort was made possible thanks in part to grant funding from the Nebraska Department of Transportation - Highway Safety Office.
