The Salvation Army of Omaha says they are in need of more volunteers for its summer mobile meals program, which is called Family Meals of Hope.
The Family Meals of Hope program serves metro families in need by bringing free, nutritious dinnertime meals directly to conveniently located public places and serving them up food-truck style.
Family Meals of Hope runs each weeknight, except for holidays, during the summer.
The 2026 season is underway and will conclude on July 31st.
The program has expanded, including a west Omaha service stop to go along with its stops in north and south parts of Omaha.
The Salvation Army says the program is now serving an average of about 240 meals each night after starting the season in early June at just under 200 meals per night.
Salvation Army officers, employees, and volunteers all help, and officials are now looking for more volunteers.
There are currently openings for servers, drivers, meal-prep assistants, and more.
Those interested can call 402-680-1859 and leave a message.
