Heather Robinson
In a news release, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office says this past March, DCSO investigators were contacted by staff at the Douglas County Department of Corrections who suspected a DCDC staff member of permitting inmates to have unauthorized communications with individuals outside of the correctional facility.
This staff member was identified as Heather Robinson, the General Education Development program teacher.
The Sheriff says the investigation determined that Robinson allowed an inmate, age 21, who was a part of the GED program within the jail, to access her cell phone during one- on- one instruction.
The inmate was permitted to take photos and access video calls during that time.
Additionally, Robinson is accused of sending text messages to the inmate's family on behalf of the inmate.
A warrant was granted for Robinson’s arrest on suspicion of five counts of “Allowing a Committed Offender to Escape or have Unauthorized Visitation or Communication” in violation of state law, a class 4 Felony.
On, Monday, Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputies assigned to the Fugitive Warrants Division arrested and booked Heather Robinson on the active arrest warrant.
Anyone from the public who has information regarding Robinson or crimes that she may have committed while employed by the Douglas County Department of Corrections is asked to contact the DCSO Tip line at 402-444-6000 or dcsotips@douglascounty-ne.gov.
