Humboldt County Sherriff Arrests Man After Chase

(Gilmore City, IA) -- A manhunt has ended in Humboldt County. Police were searching for a Clayton Christian Nielsen of Gilmore City last night.

A press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff says the 41-year-old was driving erratically and yelling at people through Humboldt and Pocahontas counties. When deputies tried to pull him over, they say he hit one of their cars and led them on a chase. Then he allegedly bailed from his vehicle and took off on foot. Nielsen was taken into custody at 10:15 this morning.

He was arrested and charged with:

Three counts of assault on persons in certain occupations while using or displaying a dangerous weapon, class C felonies.

Criminal mischief in the 2nd degree, class D felony.

Interference with official acts causing bodily injury, serious misdemeanor.

Eluding, serious misdemeanor.

Reckless driving, simple misdemeanor.
