The Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office says 32 law enforcement agencies across the state have received grant funding for the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" enforcement campaign, which is now underway and runs through Labor Day, Sept. 7th.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration initiative emphasizes the importance of sober driving and is backed by increased law enforcement presence on Nebraska roadways.
According to NDOT HSO data, law enforcement agencies recorded 8,047 arrests for driving under the influence in Nebraska last year. Additionally, officers issued 192 DUI citations during the December "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" enforcement period.
In 2025, the state says alcohol-involved crashes accounted for 38 fatalities, 16.5% of the state’s total, and 213 serious injuries, 18.4% of the state’s total.
