(Gilbert, IA) -- A central Iowa school district is celebrating the start of the new school year with the opening of a new elementary school.
The Gilbert Community School District announced that the new Gilbert Elementary School will serve preschool through second-grade students. The facility includes 25 classrooms, a media center, cafeteria, and gymnasium.
District officials say the school was built to accommodate growing enrollment among the district's youngest students.
