Body found in Des Moines River Identified

UPDATE:

A body found in the Des Moines River, downtown Des Moines late Wednesday afternoon has been identified as 20-year-old Phillip  Philavahn.

Police say Philavahn disappeared last November after he was accused of assaulting a family member and stealing a car.   The Medical Examiner has not yet determined his cause of death.

Construction workers found a body in the waters of the Des Moines River in downtown Des Moines Wednesday afternoon.

Des Moines Police and Fire rescue units were called in around 4:47pm to the area directly south of the Grand Avenue bridge in downtown Des Moines.  Police say the body was found in the water by the construction workers.  

Police detectives are investigating but no other information's been released.
