UPDATE: 8:40 a.m. Des Moines Police now say they are investigating a murder, after report of yelling and screaming just before 6:00 a.m.  Detectives say it is not clear if a man who was arrested at the house is connected with the murder.

This is Des Moines' second homicide of 2018.

DES MOINES, Iowa - Police say neighbors reported yelling and screaming in an apartment on the near north side of Des Moines Wednesday morning, and found a dead body upstairs.

Detectives are investigating what is being called a suspicious death at the house in the 1000 block of 21st Street.

"It was just before 6:00 o'clock this morning we were called out here.  A neighbor in one of the apartments in the building heard a dispute going on, described some yelling and screaming."  Des Moines Police Sergeant Paul Parizek tells WHO Radio News.

"Our officers arrived here and met with a person who was exiting the building.  He had some evidence and made some statements that he might have harmed somebody in the apartment."  Parizek says.

WHO Radio News talked with people who live in the building next door.  One of them says a fight spilled over into their hallways around 1:00 this morning.

"Last night one of the neighbors from over there was here, in our hallway, and the cops came and got him out of here."  Said Lisa.  "I knew one of them would be found dead one of these days."
