UPDATE: Des Moines Police have arrested two people in connection with the city's first homicide of the year. Police have arrested 45-year-old William Burton III, and 36-year-old Crystal Purdy, both of Des Moines. They have both been charged with First Degree Murder.

(DES MOINES, Iowa) Des Moines Police were called to the 13-hundred block of 21st Street to investigate a report of a shooting around 11:30 p.m. last (Tuesday) night. Officers found the body of 39-year-old Cory Lee Channon.
About a half hour later a potential suspect contacted Police, and surrendered without incident.
Des Moines Police Sgt. Paul Parezik tells WHO Radio News, at this time no charges have been filed.
This is the first homicide of 2018 for Des Moines.
