UPDATE: Des Moines Police arrest sexual assault suspect

UPDATE:   Des Moines Police say a suspect in an attempted sexual assault at a south side convenience store, turned himself in this afternoon.   Detectives say 24-year-old Gerald W. Miller of Des Moines has been charged with Second Degree Sexual Abuse, a class B felony.


DES MOINES, Iowa-  Police are looking for a man with fresh injuries on his face after they say a woman store clerk fought him off in an attempted sexual assault.

Investigators say the woman was stocking shelves around 3:30 this (Monday) morning at the QuikTrip on SW 9th at Army Post when the man grabbed her and forced her to the floor.

Police say he violently tried to sexually assault the woman but she fought back, and the man ran off.

The suspect was reported driving a red SUV and they say he has noticeable injuries to his face.
