A mother and daughter were injured when a U.S. Navy parachutist crash-landed into a crowd during an air show in San Francisco on Sunday (October 13).

Six members of the Navy Leap Frogs parachute team were taking part in a Fleet Week event at Marina Green when one of them missed the landing zone and crashed into a crowd of spectators holding a large banner.

First responders rushed to help the woman and her teenage daughter. The woman was taken away on a stretcher while her daughter was treated at the scene. They were both taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The Navy parachutist was unharmed in the crash.

It is unclear what caused him to miss the landing spot.

"Our thoughts are with the individual and their family. Safety is our number one priority. We cannot immediately assess what happened; however, we will review this incident to determine the cause," the U.S. Navy said in a statement.
