Many know Ashton Kutcher from his many Hollywood movies and TV shows, but surprisingly few people know why he was in Des Moines to accept an Iowa Character Award. During Ashton's time in Iowa City when he was in college, he was arrested and even pulled over by a State Trooper for being on drugs! So, why an Iowa Character Award?

Ashton not only turned his life around into the success story we all know today, but he has used his wealth and fame to do a lot of good throughout the nation, especially right here in Iowa. Ashton founded Thorn, which uses sophisticated technology to fight child human trafficking. He also funded all classroom projects in the state listed in DonorsChoose.org WHO-TV reported and he is also co-founder of The Native Fund with Dallas Clark.

The Ray Center at Drake University presented Ashton with the award at their All-Star Evening on April 8th and told Justin and Adrianne the backstory on why he was selected. It's important to note their Character Awards Nominations are due today!

Listen to Amy Smit of The Ray Center talk about Ashton Kutcher.
