History of the WHO Great Iowa Tractor Ride
The WHO Radio Tractor Ride is an annual event, held every June, where farmers and tractor enthusiasts gather from all around the country to embark on a three-day ride on their tractors across various towns and cities in Iowa. The WHO Radio Tractor Ride started in 1996 from the Poweshiek County Fairgrounds by WHO Radio Farm Broadcasters Mark Pearson and Gary Wergin, and WHO Radio Listener Daryl Hull. The first ride had about 90 tractors participating. Today, 29 years later, we have grown to over 500 tractors/drivers involved in the annual event. The event brings tractor enthusiasts together for four days of fun, tractors of every make, color, and year, and an overall fellowship and a celebration of Iowa’s rich agricultural heritage. We hope to make a positive impact in your communities, bring a smile, and encourage an old childhood memory. For all the participants it has become an annual family tradition that is eagerly looked upon year after year.
