Chris Coleman, head of the Better Business Bureau and Des Moines City Councilman, joined us in the studio this morning right after the 8:30 news. Chris is hosting the 2017 Better Business Bureau Torch Awards today at the Downtown Marriott at 11:45AM. Five students will be awarded scholarships based on their accomplishments...Talia Cunningham of Centerville, Caleb Gipple of New Sharon, Sahrity Reyna of Columbus Junction, Samantha Walker of Norwalk and Abbegale Wilson of Vinton. Business Torch Award honorees include The Arc of East Central Iowa, Bryant Iowa Heating & Cooling of Ankeny, ICS Advanced Technologies of Ames, Lumbermans Drywall & Roofing Supply of Des Moines, Preferred Pest Control of Central Iowa and United Way of East Central Iowa. Congratulations one and all! There are still a few spaces left at the table if you wish to attend, but you need to contact Laura or Lynn at 243-8137 right away to make your reservation. Today. we did a Van and Bonnie Trading Post for a pair of tickets to the Daryl Hall and John Oates concert on May 8th. We traded for a 12 pound cannon ball! What we'll do with it, we don't know....but we've never had a cannon ball before!
Tomorrow on Van and Bonnie, we'll give away our last pair of tickets to Daryl Hall and John Oates, plus we'll play the Friday News Quiz. Special guests will include John Erickson of Kidsave Iowa and Jim Bohannon of America in the Morning!
