Protest at Sen. Bill Dix home blasted: "Not Iowa!"

A protest held outside Senate Majority Leader Bill Dix's home in Shell Rock was blasted on the floor of the Iowa Senate Tuesday.

Sen. Rick Bertrand (R-Sioux City) said the protest was "not Iowa."  He said protesters can gather at public meetings, and campaign against someone, but camping outside their home is "completely inappropriate."

The event was organized by the local Teamsters Union and the Butler County Democratic Party.  Calling it "Nix Dix", the protest featured a speech by Kirsten Andersen, the member of the Senate Republican staff who successfully sued the Iowa Senate Republican caucus for dismissing her from her job as communications director after she complained of sexual harrassment in the Iowa Senate.

Dix did not comment Tuesday on the protest last weekend.
