DES MOINES, Iowa - A party bus that crashed and rolled onto its side this weekend on I-80 likely had a steering malfunction.

The Iowa Department of Transportation says it appears the bus lost its steering system, causing the bus to run off the highway into a ditch.

There were 21 people on the bus, headed from Des Moines to Adel on I-80 when it crashed near Waukee.

Minor injuries were reported.

One passenger tells WHO Channel 13 that the converted school bus seemed old and rusty.
