Rain, flash flooding possible through Wednesday in Iowa MAP

DES MOINES, Iowa - Heavy rain, up to 4 inches possible in some areas may lead to flash flooding in Iowa through Wednesday.

The National Weather Service in Des Moines says widespread rain totals will run 1 to 2 inches in Central and Southern Iowa.

WHO Channel 13 Meteorologist Jeriann Ritter says already 3″ fell around Boone county with more  possible.  WATCH VIDEO FORECAST BELOW. 

Ritter says a front is stalled out across Iowa and will lead to periods of heavy rain the next few days.

Rain will taper off through mid-day today with mostly cloudy to partly sunny skies for the afternoon. 

A few isolated showers and storms are still possible during the evening, and heavy rain could return late  Tuesday night through early Wednesday morning.

Again on Thursday rain is likely.Temperatures will be held back in the 80s and upper 70s through the end of the work week with the clouds and rain at times. It looks to be drier by the weekend.
