COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa - An Iowa Sheriff's Deputy is hurt, but recovering after his squad car was hit by a semi this weekend.

The Pottawattamie County Sheriff's Department says a FedEx Semi-truck slammed into Deputy Adam Fields' squad car that was on the side of Interstate 29 near Council Bluffs, where Fields was making a traffic stop.

The semi then crashed into the median and crossed the interstate, ending up in the ditch on the opposite side of the highway.

Deputy Fields has a leg injury, but is expected to be okay. His squad car is totaled.
