Urbandale Delays Recreation Activities After COVID-19 Restrictions Lifted

URBANDALE, Iowa - The city of Urbandale is playing it safe, even with Governor Reynolds' loosening of COVID-19 restrictions.

In-person parks and recreation programs are cancelled through June 14th, as are playgrounds, sports fields, the skate park and restrooms.

Governor Reynolds has opened up some swimming activities, but Urbandale pools are closed until July 6th, as is the senior recreation center.

The city says it's re-evaluating closures and cancellations as CDC and state restrictions are lifted.

Earlier this week, Urbandale announced it's cancelling all of its Fourth of July activities, except for its fireworks show. The city is noted for having one of the bigger Fourth of July celebrations in the area that includes a large parade.
