Altoona Police identify 11-year old as victim in Adventureland accident

ALTOONA, Iowa -- Altoona Police have identified the victim in an accident on Adventureland's Raging River Ride.

11-year old Michael Jaramillo died from injuries he suffered after a Raging River Raft carrying six people overturned.

One other child suffered critical injuries, with others sustaining minor injuries.

Original Story:

A person hurt on ride at Adventureland in Altoona has died.

The amusement park made the announcement Sunday night.

Altoona Police say four people were hurt Saturday when a raft overturned on the Raging River water ride.

Police say three of the riders had initially suffered critical injuries and a fourth person suffered minor injuries.

The park says the ride had been inspected the day before the accident and was found to be in good working order.

Adventureland says the Raging River is closed while the accident is investigated.

An Adventureland worker was killed in 2016 after slipping and falling into the Raging River's conveyer belt.
