(Ames, IA) -- Beth Marrs of Iowa State University Extension says they're getting a lot of phone calls this Thanksgiving week, from cooks with questions. Marrs says many of the calls are about cooking the turkey, including what to do if it's still frozen when it's time to go into the oven. She says it's fine to go ahead and start cooking it, then an hour later remove the neck and giblets that had been stuck inside.
She also reminds cooks not to attempt to wash a turkey in the sink, due to the risk of splashing juices leading to cross-contamination.
The hotline is open Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday this week.
