(Coralville, IA) -- Two correctional officers are recovering after being assaulted by an inmate. Corrections says an inmate started assaulting an officer at 8 o'clock Saturday night at the Iowa Medical and Classification Center in Coralville. The inmate then started punching a second officer, before more staff arrived to stop the inmate. The first officer was treated and released from a local hospital. The second officer was treated on scene.
This incident remains under investigation.
