Blizzard Warning, Windchill Warning for much of Iowa Friday

(Des Moines, IA) -- A Blizzard Warning continues for much of the northern half of Iowa, with high winds and bitter cold temperatures.

Polk and Dallas Counties, and other I-80 counties to the west have been removed from the Blizzard Warning.

Counties to the east and north of Des Moines remain under the Blizzard Warning.

This includes Jasper County to the Iowa border at Davenport and Scott County; as well as Ames and Story County to the northern Iowa border.

A Windchill Warning is also posted across the region, with windchills reported at -35 or more in Central and East Central Iowa, to even -45 degrees in the north.

Exposed skin can get Frostbite in 10 minutes or less at those temperatures.

Difficult travel conditions continue across Iowa. High winds are causing blowing and drifting snow, and lower visibility, especially in the I-80 corridor east of Des Moines to Davenport, and the I-35 corridor north of Des Moines to the Minnesota border.
