(Boone Co., IA) -- The Boone County Sheriff's Office is looking for the person responsible for shooting a car as it was driving down Highway 169 just south of Ogden last Friday night. Sheriff Andrew Godzicki says the woman driving the car first thought she was hit by a rock, but later saw the damage on her car.

"What concerns me the most about this is the trajectory of the bullet," says Godzicki. "It entered the headlight, went through a bracket, and then pealed out through the hood of the roof."

Godzicki says he thinks the woman may have been targeted.

"I'm concerned when I see a bullet directly through the vehicle that's essentially straight and parallel with the vehicle," he says. "For me it creates some doubt as to whether or not this was accidental or intentional."

Godzicki says based on the damage he thinks the bullet came from a rifle.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call the Boone County Dispatch Center at 515-433-0527.
