Iowa State Parks Host Volunteer Cleanup Events

(Undated) -- Volunteers are expected to head to state parks in Iowa.

Iowa State Parks & Forests Volunteer Day is this Saturday, September 23rd, and volunteers can spend some time taking part in a variety of projects.

Some of the projects include general park clean up, litter pick up, painting picnic tables, trail maintenance, tree trimming and more.

Andy Bartlett, Manager of Ledges State Park near Boone says volunteers will also work on getting rid of invasive plants.

The event is part of National Public Lands day, the single largest volunteer event across the nation.

Most events take place in the morning.

Details and a list of parks and forests with events can be found on the DNR's volunteer website.
