(Iowa) -- The Iowa Department of Transportation is warning residents to watch out for a new scam.

They say people are receiving weird texts or phone calls from someone claiming to be from the DOT, and asking for personal identification related to your driving records.

The DOT says they will never text a link or call you about your driving record.

You can find your records on their website.
