(Troy, Missouri) -- A body found in Missouri 46 years ago is discovered to be that of a missing Iowa girl.

The body was found by a hunter in 1978, and coroners at the time were unable to successfully identify the person. Buried in a grave marked "Lincoln County Jane Doe," the body was exhumed last year in hopes of finding new evidence. Modern testing methods were able to identify the body as that of 15 year-old Helen Groomes, who was last seen in Ottumwa.

Her death is being investigated as a newly re-opened case.
