National Weather Service Confirms 12 Tornadoes on Tuesday So Far

(Iowa) -- The National Weather Service is confirming 12 tornadoes in Iowa on Tuesday, April 16th, though they're continuing to investigate.

Three tornadoes were confirmed in Pocahontas County, two were confirmed in Calhoun County, along with single tornadoes in Lee, Dallas, and Buchanan Counties. Four others have been confirmed in northwest Iowa. Most of the tornadoes were brief but did case damage in some areas.

The National Weather Service will continue to review evidence and may identify additional tornadoes during Tuesday's storms.
