(Burlington, IA) -- Clean-up is underway after a southeast Iowa fertilizer spill.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says a 700-gallon tank containing liquid fertilizer fell off a truck in Burlington on Monday.

The D-N-R says some of it ended up in Hawkeye Creek.

Crews are working to capture the creek flow and clean it thru the Burlington Wastewater Treatment Plant, before it gets to the Mississippi.

A quarter-million gallons of liquid nitrogen fertilizer discharged into the East Nishnabotna River last month.
