23-Year-Old Serving Life Sentence At Newton Correctional Facility Has Died

(Newton, IA) -- A 23-year-old inmate serving a life sentence has died at the Newton Correctional Facility.

The Iowa Department of Corrections says Malga Huran Yanga, who was was serving a special life sentence from Buena Vista County, died Wednesday, September 4 at around 6:06 a.m.

His sentence began August 17, 2020.

The cause of death is still being investigated and no further information is being released at this time.
