A chase involving a stolen car leads to the arrest of a suspect wanted on robbery charges in Des Moines.

Police say around 11 a.m. Friday morning, a 911 caller reported two men in stocking masks that appeared to be stealing a pickup truck.

Less than an hour later, another call reported suspicious activity just Southeast of downtown Des Moines, with two men moving between two vehicles, one matching the description of the stolen pickup.

Officers responding spotted the truck, which fled at a high-rate of speed, leading DMPD on an 11-minute chase that ended back on the South side.

18-year-old Brayan Lopez was taken into custody at the scene of the crash in the 1000 block of County Line Road, while a 15-year-old passenger was arrested after running on foot into A.H. Blank Golf Course.

Lopez had an active warrant from a December 2024 robbery, and was sought by detectives in connection to the February 14th homicide of Armando Cruz Lorenzo.
