(Midwest) -- The latest Mid-America Business Conditions Index report shows signs the Midwest economy is slowing.

The overall Midwest economy remained above growth neutral, though is was down to a reading of 53.3 below March's 56.7. Any number above 50 indicates the overall economy is growing, though April's reading indicates that growth is slowing. April's employment index fell below growth-neutral to a reading of 44.9. April saw the wholesale price index climb to its highest reading since 2024.

The report also says 65% of supply managers across the 9 state region say that higher overall prices are due to uncertainty surrounding tariffs and supply chain interruptions.
