One Killed in Fatal South Side Crash in Des Moines

(Des Moines, IA) -- Des Moines Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Thursday afternoon on the city's south side.

Authorities say the incident happened shortly after 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the 6500 block of Bloomfield Road, just south of Army Post Road. When officers arrived at the scene, they found that a vehicle had left the roadway and struck a utility pole. The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
