Des Moines Woman Charged with Animal Neglect After Eviction

(Des Moines, IA) -- Madison Cherry, 23, has been arrested on multiple charges after allegedly abandoning two cats and a bearded dragon in her apartment post-eviction.

According to Des Moines Police, one cat was found deceased, and the other exhibited severe neglect, scoring 2 out of 9 on the Purina Body Condition System. The bearded dragon was also discovered without access to food or water. Cherry faces several counts of animal neglect and abandonment, including two charges each of abandonment of cats and dogs with serious injury or death, and animal neglect with serious injury or death. Her bond is set at $100,000, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 15.
