(Des Moines, IA) -- A veteran of political campaigns is entering the race for Iowa Governor.

Julie Stauch, a resident of West Des Moines, announced Tuesday morning that she is running as a Democrat for Governor. Stauch is no stranger to politics, having worked on 24 campaigns at the federal, state, and local levels.

According to her campaign website, Stauch is a fifth-generation Iowan, a former educator, and a small business owner. She also served as Iowa Political Director for Pete Buttigieg during his 2020 presidential campaign.

Stauch will face State Auditor Rob Sand in the Democratic primary. On the Republican side, former state lawmaker Brad Sherman has also announced his candidacy for Governor.
