(Des Moines, IA) -- A hit-and-run in Des Moines has left a pedestrian dead. Des Moines Police were called to the intersection of Merle Hay Road and Hickman Road on Monday night, where they found an adult male with critical injuries. He was transported to the hospital, where he later died.

Witnesses reported that a 2020 Dodge Ram pickup fled the scene after hitting the man, who was standing in the median at the time of the crash.

Police later located the truck in the 2500 block of 44th Street. The adult male driver has been identified, but no charges have been filed at this time.

The incident remains under investigation.
