(Des Moines, IA) -- Swimmers in Des Moines will soon be able to return to a city public pool that's been closed for renovations.

Birdland Pool is opening for the season on Monday, June 30th. The city says a critical part has been installed, which delayed the opening this year.

It's part of 1.75 million dollars of improvements to the pool, including new mechanical systems, deep-end reconstruction, and repainting.

Admission fees are reduced to a dollar for kids and two dollars for adults for the remainder of the season.
