Gun Seizures Rise 10% in Des Moines

(Des Moines, IA) -- The Des Moines Police Department reports a 10% increase in the number of firearms seized or surrendered.

According to the department, 374 guns have been recovered during the first half of 2025. Many of these weapons were recovered by street officers in neighborhoods across the city.
